Zutano was founded in 1989 by Michael and Uli Belenky when their first daughter was born. Uli was a designer and art director, and Michael was a professional photographer. They both recognized a lack of unique, colorful baby clothes in the market and set out to create their own out of their New York City brownstone. The brand was an instant hit both in the city and across the country. Eventually, they had a second daughter, moved to a hilltop farmhouse in Vermont and expanded the Zutano line to include accessories and their now-iconic baby booties. Today, you’ll find a maternity line as well for expecting mothers.
